Who is eligible to file a claim under the Employment Insurance System (EIS)?

  • Citizenship : Open to all Malaysian citizens, Permanent Residents (PR), and Temporary Residents employed within the private or domestic sectors.
  • Age Limit: Eligible for employees aged 18 to 60 (with the exception of individuals aged 57 and above who have no prior contribution history).
  • Loss of Employment Criteria: Applicable to individuals who meet the defined loss of employment criteria under the prescribed Act.
  • Contribution Qualifying Conditions (CQC) : Applicants must have fulfilled the minimum required number of monthly contributions within the specified timeframe.

Any rejected claims under the Employment Insurance System (EIS) may be appealed through the Social Security Appellate Board (SSAB). To initiate this process, please submit the official appeal form (JR1) to the following address:

Benefits

What is Job Search Allowance (EMP)?

This allowance provides income replacement for individuals who have experienced a loss of employment, where eligible recipients will receive payments for a duration of three to six months. The benefit period is subject to the Contribution Qualifying Conditions (CQC), and applicants are required to remain actively seeking employment throughout the duration of the benefit. Subsequent claims must be submitted on a monthly basis via the official LINDUNG KERJAYA website (eis.perkeso.gov.my).

What is the Employment Insurance System (EIS)?

The Employment Insurance System (LINDUNG KERJAYA) was established on 1st January 2018 to provide income replacement for Insured Persons (IP) who have lost their jobs. This programme is administered in its entirety by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO).

What are the required documents to submit a claim under the Employment Insurance System (EIS)?
